Crimson Screen Horror Fest: Crimson Screen Horror Film Fest is South Carolina's first and largest horror film festival! The 2018 festival will take place over three days in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina and will feature some of the best independent horror films from all over the world. We will be screening all of our Official Selections at South of Broadway Theater located in the heart of Park Circle. Forget the Oscars! We have the "Crimmy's"! Too Short to Die Online Screenplay Competition: Too Short To Die is the rare screenwriting competition to focus exclusively on short screenplays. By focusing exclusively on the short format, the competition provides a unique outlet for writers, and a possibility to use short scripts to make money, receive valuable feedback, or develop your voice as a young writer. Too Short To Die exists to benefit writers and filmmakers, and was designed to be completely transparent. The contest is set up such that the more writers enter, the better the contest is for them. Prize money is awarded in direct proportion to how many contests enter, and 40% of entry fees goes to prize money. This model gives writers a unique opportunity of deliberately building a community around a contest in order to increase the benefit for everyone.

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema: Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, kicks off its inaugural 10-day event August 4th, 2017. Featuring over 150 films submitted from over 30 countries around the world. The first film festival of it's kind in Queens NYC, the event will kick-off with a plaque dedication ceremony in honor of the late Rodney Dangerfield (who grew up in Kew Gardens) and presented by Friends of Maple Grove. The event is free and open to the public, but requires a confirmed RSVP. Queens Museum in nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park, will also play host to additional festival selections, from nearly 400 submissions, over the week long event at no charge. Rsvp's for those free screenings are highly recommended.
